Be honest with me now, how many photos do you currently have on your phone’s camera roll? And how many of these images have you printed? When was the last time you printed a photo?

When I was a child all cameras used film, and you had to wait until the negatives were processed and printed to see if your family snaps had come out well. Nowadays digital camera technology makes it easier than ever to take images, but we aren’t printing them like we used to, and I think this is a real shame. Children of today are growing up unrepresented in print. No digital copies exist of the photos taken at my parents’ wedding, or images of me as a child with my grandparents, and no negatives of these images remain – I only have physical printed photos to remember them by, and these prints provide tangible memories which have lasted through time.

Digital images are great for sharing, it’s true, but they won’t last forever. However a printed photograph will never become obsolete. With constant innovations in digital media, the methods used for storing images are evolving rapidly. How we store and access our photographs has changed over the past 30 years. When I first started using a digital camera DVDs and CDs were used for storing digital files, but some manufacturers stopped producing computers with CD/DVD disk drives in 2012 (and how many people can remember using a floppy disk to store data?). Likewise USBs will eventually become outmoded, and cloud storage isn’t infallible. This is why all of my newborn, cake smash and birthday photography packages include printed products, because I truly believe in the importance of printing images. A fine art print can be held and appreciated long after a digital image on a screen has disappeared. A print is a tactile memory that can be shared with others, and displayed and viewed for many years, and passed down to future generations to connect family members. And I will happily design a wedding album for you once you’ve received your completed gallery, to showcase your favourite images from the day as a tangible product.

Printed products are one of the most meaningful ways that you can enjoy the images I capture for you. The printed products I offer are bespoke and of exceptional quality. All prints are Fine Art HD and can be mounted to show them off to their best impact. Mounted prints can be displayed to great effect in a Reveal Box or a Showcase box, made to order in Italy. There are a wide range of customisable options for the Reveal Box, and I will be happy to show you samples of different textures, materials and colour options at your ordering session so you can choose the best fit for your home. Wedding albums can be made in a range of sizes and with many different cover options, and I have a few sample albums in the studio to show you if you are thinking about ordering an album. If you are considering having images displayed as wall art, let me help you decide on the best layout and sizes for your chosen space.
